When TC Electronic introduced the HyperGravity Compressor back in 2015, it caught the attention of many guitar players. Its affordable price-point and versatile control set made it instantly popular, and now they have introduced a Mini version!

Pedalboard-friendly:

Mini pedals have been a recent phenomenon, with lots of manufacturers releasing scaled-down versions of their pedals. As many musicians want smaller and more portable pedalboards, the HyperGravity Mini is perfect if you want a powerful compressor pedal that is tiny enough to add to your ergonomic pedalboard.

Even if you run a large pedalboard, mini pedals such as this are great for placing into small gaps between other pedals. Take advantage of your pedalboard’s real-estate!

All of the Essentials:

The HyperGravity Mini may be smaller than the original, but it still packs just as much of a punch. With the blend control gone, the Mini features all of the essential features you’ll ever need from a great compressor pedal.

Use the Level control to determine how much squeeze you want, with the Sustain knob letting you set how long chords or notes will ring out for. The Attack control affects the compressor speed, so you can set it slow for a more natural compression, or set it fast to give plenty of spank to notes.

TonePrint-enabled:

Like with many TC Electronic pedals, the HyperGravity Mini is TonePrint-enabled. This means that via their free TonePrint app (for iOS and Android) you can “beam” presets into the pedal. These presets have been created collaboratively with some of the world’s biggest names, so be a part of their sound!

There is also the desktop TonePrint editor software, which allows you to tweak parameters of the pedal that can’t be accessed physically. This means that the HyperGravity Mini offers far more sounds than it appears to, making it incredibly versatile.

You can also switch the compression mode via the TonePrint editor or app. Multiband mode offers modern studio-quality squash, whilst the Vintage mode delivers some old-school style squeeze – great for funk!

Here’s what TC Electronic say about the Hypergravity Mini Compressor:

Condensed Size, Expanded Tone

HyperGravity Mini Compressor is the missing ingredient that will take your tone from good to great. Featuring endless compression options via our proprietary TonePrint technology, HyperGravity Mini is the key to getting that coveted, professional, even tone from an impossibly small stompbox. From state-of-the-art multiband compression, to cool vintage compression, HyperGravity Mini delivers it all in spades. Kick it in and prepare to shine!

Compressor

A compressor is a type of guitar effect that reduces the dynamic range of the guitar signal by attenuating the louder parts while boosting the quieter ones. This results in a more consistent and even sound, with a smoother overall volume level. Compressors are used to even out the differences in volume between different notes or chords, making them sound more uniform and polished.

Compressor pedals typically offer controls for adjusting parameters such as threshold (the level at which compression starts), ratio (the amount of compression applied), attack (how quickly compression is applied), and release (how quickly compression is released). By adjusting these controls, guitarists can tailor the compression effect to suit their playing style and musical preferences.

Compressors are commonly used in a wide range of musical genres, including rock, blues, country, and funk, to enhance sustain, control dynamics, and add punch to guitar tones. They are particularly useful for achieving a consistent and professional sound in both live performances and studio recordings. Popular compressor pedal models include the MXR Dyna Comp, Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer, and Keeley Compressor Plus.

Guitar FX

Guitar FX (effects) refer to the wide range of pedals and processors that shape and manipulate a guitar’s signal to create different sounds. From classic distortion and overdrive to reverb, delay, modulation, and pitch-shifting, effects are at the heart of a guitarist’s creative toolkit. Whether analogue or digital, stompbox or multi-effects unit, Guitar FX allow players to express mood, texture, and dynamics in unique ways. Used thoughtfully, they can transform a simple riff into something atmospheric, aggressive, or entirely otherworldly.

mini

Mini refers to compact, portable versions of guitar gear such as pedals, amplifiers, or accessories. Mini pedals and amps are designed to save space on your pedalboard or make practice and travel easier without sacrificing essential features or tone quality. These smaller units are ideal for musicians who need lightweight, convenient equipment for rehearsals, gigs, or home use.

pedal

A pedal is a compact device that guitarists use to alter their instrument’s sound by shaping effects such as distortion, delay, reverb, and modulation. Typically housed in a rugged enclosure and controlled by footswitches, pedals are designed to be placed on the floor for hands-free operation during playing. They can be analogue or digital, true bypass or buffered, and come in countless varieties to suit different styles and preferences. Pedals are essential tools for creating signature tones and adding colour and texture to a guitarist’s sound.
