Description

The Source Audio Aftershock Bass Distortion allows you to get down and dirty with three distinct overdrive modes; Tube, Heavy and Fuzz. With controls for Drive, Level, Clean and Tone, you have full control over the effect allowing you to dial in anything from a subtle, low gain overdrive to a thick, chewy, gut busting fuzz sound with ease. The Aftershock also has stereo capability which means you can plug it into two amplifiers for a truly massive bass sound. The Stereo set up also allows you to distort upstream stereo signals, split a mono signal to dual outputs, or use the additional in and out as an external effects loop.

Each pedal from Source Audio's One Series line is compatible with the Neuro Mobile App (a free download for iOS and Android) which opens up a plethora of presets and customisation and editing features.

Key Features

  • 3 Overdrive Modes – "Tube" mode delivers a subtle but powerful vintage tube-style overdrive with plenty of punch. "Heavy" mode produces an aggressive scooped sound with ample highs and plenty of low end thump and "Fuzz" mode gives you intense germanium fuzz tones with plenty of grit.
  • Stereo Operation – Connect the Aftershock Bass Distortion to two amplifiers for a thick, wide overdriven sound. Once you've gone stereo, you won't want to go back!
  • Universal Bypass – Chose between an analogue buffered or relay based True Bypass depending on where the Aftershock sits in your signal chain.
  • Stackable Drive Engines – Dual drive engines and stereo inputs and outputs make it possible (via the Neuro App) to stack any combination of drive engines in either series or parallel as well as split the signal and send a separate drive engine to each of the pedal’s outputs.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Distortion

Distortion pedals deliver the raw, aggressive edge that defines rock and metal, transforming your clean tone into something powerful and full of attitude. By pushing your signal into rich harmonic saturation, they create thick, sustaining sounds that cut through any mix. From classic crunchy riffs to high-gain modern mayhem, distortion pedals give you total control over how wild or tight your tone gets. Whether you’re crafting searing leads or heavy rhythm walls, they’re an essential tool for adding energy, bite, and character to your playing.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.

Overdrive

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit, and natural compression to your tone, capturing the feel of a pushed tube amp. They respond dynamically to your playing, offering everything from a light bluesy crunch to full, saturated rock tones. Perfect for boosting solos or shaping your core sound, an overdrive pedal brings character and life to any setup. Whether you prefer vintage smoothness or modern bite, these pedals are essential for players who want expressive, touch-sensitive drive with plenty of personality.
