Tuning is always a pain. We all have probably build up a collection of tuners over the years that you either use live, at home or in the studio. The problem with a lot of live tuners is that they can be big, bulky and honestly rarely look good on a guitar. That is where the Korg GripTune comes in handy with its tiny display designed to sit behind your headstock.

Clamp Style Design

You have probably used headstock clip on tuners before. They are so useful for any guitarist that want to be able to quickly tune on the move without having to carry around a heavy pedal or card tuner. The Griptune evolves this design one step furtherusing a small clamp rather than a clip which means you have less off the headstock covered.

It also means that the main tuner unit sits behind the headstock rather than infront of the headstock. This looks a lot more subtle on stage with just a small black tab on the front of your headstock.

+/- 1 Cent Accuracy

Headstock tuners have always had an issue with accuracy. Without a direct line into your instruments signal they are always dealing with interferance from the world. The GripTune may not have the accuracy of that high end strobe machine your local guitar tech has but for a headstock tuner this is about as accurate as they come.

Here’s what Korg say about the GripTune

A simple clamp mechanism for easy fitting
The clip that attaches the tuner to the headstock of your guitar uses a clamp mechanism that can easily be attached. This allows you to tune in a natural way without obstructing your performance. Since the clip can be opened to a range of 14-22 mm (0.55″-0.87″), it can be attached to a wide variety of instruments ranging from electric guitars to classical guitars.

Ultra-compact and ultra-lightweight, weighing just 13 grams (0.46 oz)
Among the many KORG tuners, the GripTune is the lightest and smallest; it fits easily into the pocket of your guitar case for easy portability. You can leave it attached to the headstock of your guitar, and tune in a natural position.
Preliminary Information – Specifications and features subject to change

An easily visible display screen makes tuning easy
Despite its small size, the screen provides a large note name display for easy tuning even on a dimly lit stage. You can also adjust the angle of the display section, and use the Reverse function to invert the vertical orientation of the meter; this means that you can attach the tuner to either the front or back of the headstock and tune with ease. The GripTune allows for accurate and discrete tuning in any situation.
