The JHS Pedals Tidewater is a sonic wave of vintage 'blackface' tremolo, drenching your tone in classy character.

Original brownface and blackface amps are extremely sought-after, not only because of their earthy sound, but their built-in tremolo. The Tidewater emulates that classic modulation, so you can give your rig a retro sound dip effect.

Controls

Utilising only three controls, the Tidewater is effortless to work with. Volume has control over the boost of the effect. Mix alters the depth of the tremolo effect, whether it's a light spray or engulfs your tone.

Turn this all the way down for a warm preamp boost. Turn the speed knob to alter the repetitions of the tremolo, indicated by the LED  light which will flash in time.

Internal Modifications

For those of you who don't mind getting hand's on, open up the pedal for access to the internal controls. There are three small dipswitches behind the PCB. In the down position the speed range is faster. push them up for a slower rate.

Guitar FX

Guitar FX (effects) refer to the wide range of pedals and processors that shape and manipulate a guitar’s signal to create different sounds. From classic distortion and overdrive to reverb, delay, modulation, and pitch-shifting, effects are at the heart of a guitarist’s creative toolkit. Whether analogue or digital, stompbox or multi-effects unit, Guitar FX allow players to express mood, texture, and dynamics in unique ways. Used thoughtfully, they can transform a simple riff into something atmospheric, aggressive, or entirely otherworldly.

pedal

A pedal is a compact device that guitarists use to alter their instrument’s sound by shaping effects such as distortion, delay, reverb, and modulation. Typically housed in a rugged enclosure and controlled by footswitches, pedals are designed to be placed on the floor for hands-free operation during playing. They can be analogue or digital, true bypass or buffered, and come in countless varieties to suit different styles and preferences. Pedals are essential tools for creating signature tones and adding colour and texture to a guitarist’s sound.

Tremolo

Tremolo is a guitar effect that modulates the volume of the guitar signal at a regular rate, creating a pulsating or “shaking” effect. This modulation can vary in intensity and speed, allowing guitarists to achieve a wide range of tremolo sounds, from subtle rhythmic pulsations to more pronounced, choppy effects.

Tremolo pedals typically offer controls for adjusting parameters such as rate (the speed of the tremolo modulation), depth (the intensity of the effect), and waveform shape (such as sine, square, or triangle wave). By adjusting these controls, guitarists can customize the tremolo effect to suit their musical style and preferences.

Tremolo is commonly used in various music genres, including rock, surf, country, and indie, to add texture, movement, and dynamics to guitar tones. It can be used to create rhythmic patterns, add emphasis to specific parts of a song, or create a sense of tension and release.

Popular tremolo pedal models include the Boss TR-2 Tremolo, Strymon Flint Tremolo & Reverb, and Electro-Harmonix Super Pulsar.
