Here’s what Ibanez says about the QX52

With recent advancements in instrument technology, the rise of technical playing styles, and the demand for lighter, more portable instruments, today’s headless guitars are surpassing traditional designs. Ibanez recognized an exciting opportunity in this evolving space. The Q (Quest) series is a completely new concept for Ibanez, representing not just an adaptation of existing models into a headless design, but a fresh development from the ground up. This series incorporates unique elements aimed at enhancing tone, performance, and comfort. Key features include custom-designed R1 single coil and Q58 humbucker pickups, a new Mono-Tune bridge, and a proprietary custom string locking mechanism. Additionally, the QX subseries is equipped with innovative 8-degree inward slanted frets, tailored specifically to benefit highly technical players. The versatile feature set of the QX52 makes it an appealing choice for both modern, technical guitarists and those who may not have previously considered a headless guitar. Regardless of genre, the QX52 encourages guitarists to explore the full spectrum of their creative possibilities.

Product Features

  • Parallel Wizard 3pc Roasted Maple/Bubinga Neck: The 19mm thick neck provides an exceptional fretting-hand experience for those who prefer their instrument in a higher playing position. The 3pc Roasted Maple/Bubinga construction ensures excellent stability and long-term durability.
  • Roasted Birdseye Maple Fretboard: This visually striking fretboard offers a balanced attack and rich sustain due to its heat-treated construction.
  • Jumbo Stainless Steel Frets: These frets feature excellent corrosion resistance and a wide, tall profile that delivers quick response and clear articulation for both chords and single notes.
  • Nyatoh Body: The Nyatoh body wood contributes to a rich mid-low end, enhancing the guitar’s tonal depth.
  • Q58 H-H Pickups: Designed specifically for headless guitars, the Q58 pickups provide a well-defined sound with excellent tonal balance. The lows are powerful yet clear, and the highs are bright without being harsh, making each note within a chord clearly audible. These pickups offer exceptional performance with both digital and analog effects.
  • Custom String Lock: This one-piece design is simple and durable, requiring minimal maintenance and allowing for easy string changes. It accommodates any gauge and brand of strings without requiring proprietary options.
  • Mono-Tune Bridges: Featuring a wide intonation range, the Mono-Tune bridges allow for easy setup for tuning down a whole step or more. The adjustable string height and minimal material in each saddle provide a natural, organic tone.
  • dyna-MIX10 Switching System with Alter Switch: This system offers ten sound variations and allows for easy switching between humbucker and single coil modes. The Power Tap mode simulates single coil sounds despite the humbucker pickups.
