Like every genre, Heavy Metal music has its traditions. Drop tuned power chords, screaming solos and plenty of distortion. The GRG121DX is designed to handle even the heaviest of riffs with great mid range tone to help you cut through the mix. Over three decades the Ibanez RG has been a heavy hitter in the world of metal. With a modern design, great playability and amazing value for money they’re a great choice for any budding shredder.

Great Mid Range Tone

The rosewood fretboard takes a little edge off of the tone, especially useful with fresh strings, rounding out the top end and giving you a warmer sound. The mahogany body produces a punchy growl with a good sustain which makes it ideal for heavy rock with good low frequencies, a tendency to pronounce the lower mids, and a smooth but relatively subdued higher end. You don’t have to worry about getting lost in the mix, this guitar has plenty of mid-range muscle to help you cut through.

Solid setup

A fixed bridge gives you better sustain (great for soloing) and helps stop you going out of tune. When you’re using drop tunings a floating bridge needs adjusting to keep the string tension right, fixed bridges don’t need so much attention, great if you want to switch between tunings quickly.

Built for speed

For heavy rock and metal solos you need to be able to quickly and comfortably reach the top frets. Ibanez’s necks are flat, thin and very fast, just right for quick shredding. The deep cutaways give you great access to the upper frets so you get a better range for soloing and a flat fretboard that’s great for string bending.

Black

Black is a classic and versatile colour choice for guitars, amps, pedals, and accessories. It’s sleek, timeless, and suits every style—from understated elegance to full-on rock attitude. Whether you’re after a high-gloss finish on a guitar, a rugged black amp for the stage, or matching accessories, this category brings together all things black in the world of music gear. Ideal for those who prefer a bold, professional look that never goes out of style.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibrations into an electrical signal, which is then amplified. Unlike acoustic guitars, they rely on amplification for volume and tone shaping, making them highly versatile in genres like rock, blues, jazz, and metal. Electric guitars come in many body styles—solid, semi-hollow, and hollow—and feature different pickup configurations, neck types, and hardware. From smooth clean tones to aggressive distortion, they offer a wide sonic range, making them the backbone of modern guitar music.

About Ibanez

We have new and used Ibanez musical equipment available on our website for fast direct delivery from sellers across the UK & Europe.

The Hoshino Gakki company began in 1908 as the musical instrument sales division of the Hoshino Shoten, a bookstore chain. Hoshino Gakki decided in 1935 to make Spanish-style acoustic guitars, at first using the “Ibanez Salvador” brand name in honor of Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, and later simply “Ibanez”.

In the 1970s, the Nisshin Onpa company who owned the Maxon brand name, developed and began selling a series of effect pedals in Japan. Hoshino Gakki licensed these for sale using the name Ibanez outside Japan. These two companies eventually began doing less and less business together until Nisshin Onpa ceased manufacturing the TS-9 reissue for Hoshino Gakki in 2002.
