Electro Harmonix Memory Boy Echo Chorus & Vibrato Pedal

The long lost son of the sought after Memory Man is here! A more compact, cheaper version of it’s Daddy, the Memory Boy Analog Delay features an expression pedal input for controlling the modulation rate, Square or Triangle Wave modulation and Vibrato / Chorus modes, as well as all the controls you’d expect from a delay pedal.

Reviews

  • “At its simplest, the Memory Boy will do a convincing rock ‘n’ roll-style slapback – it should be pointed out that it doesn’t do pristine digital-style delay and nor is it supposed to.”
  • “The Memory Boy comes in a much smaller, more robust, cast metal housing than its predecessors, with the added advantage of taking up less pedalboard real estate.”
  • “Getting lost in the Memory Boy simply requires a fairly loud amp and five minutes of your time. It spans nice slapback delay to schizophrenic sonic silliness that experi-mentalists will adore… At this price, it’s a winner. 4.5/5”

Chorus

Chorus is a modulation-based guitar effect that creates a rich, shimmering sound by splitting the guitar’s signal into two identical paths, slightly detuning one of them, and then mixing them back together. This process produces a doubling effect that simulates the sound of multiple guitars playing simultaneously, resulting in a lush, chorused tone. Chorus pedals typically offer controls for adjusting parameters such as rate (the speed of the modulation), depth (the intensity of the effect), and mix (the balance between the dry and chorused signals). By adjusting these controls, guitarists can achieve a wide range of chorus effects, from subtle, shimmering textures to lush, swirling tones. Chorus is commonly used in genres such as rock, pop, and jazz to add depth, dimension, and movement to guitar tones, creating a sense of spaciousness and richness. Popular chorus pedal models include the Boss CE-2 Chorus Ensemble, MXR M234 Analog Chorus, and TC Electronic Corona Chorus.

Delay

Delay is a time-based guitar effect that produces echoes or repetitions of the original signal after a certain amount of time has passed. It works by recording the incoming audio signal and then playing it back with a slight delay, creating the perception of multiple instances of the sound occurring over time. Delay pedals typically offer controls for adjusting parameters such as delay time, feedback (the number of repeats), and level (the volume of the delayed signal). By manipulating these controls, guitarists can create a wide range of delay effects, from subtle ambiance to rhythmic patterns and spacious soundscapes. Delay is commonly used in various music genres, including rock, pop, ambient, and electronic music, to add depth, dimension, and texture to guitar solos, rhythm parts, and atmospheric passages. Popular delay pedal models include the TC Electronic Flashback, Boss DD-7 Digital Delay, and Strymon Timeline.

Electro Acoustic Guitars

An electro-acoustic guitar is an acoustic guitar fitted with a built-in pickup or microphone, allowing it to be plugged into amps, effects units, PA systems, or recording gear. It retains the natural tone and resonance of a regular acoustic guitar but with added flexibility for live performance or studio use. Electro-acoustic guitars aren’t tied to any one style—they’re used in everything from folk and rock to classical and jazz—offering traditional sound with modern convenience.

Guitar FX

Guitar FX (effects) refer to the wide range of pedals and processors that shape and manipulate a guitar’s signal to create different sounds. From classic distortion and overdrive to reverb, delay, modulation, and pitch-shifting, effects are at the heart of a guitarist’s creative toolkit. Whether analogue or digital, stompbox or multi-effects unit, Guitar FX allow players to express mood, texture, and dynamics in unique ways. Used thoughtfully, they can transform a simple riff into something atmospheric, aggressive, or entirely otherworldly.

pedal

A pedal is a compact device that guitarists use to alter their instrument’s sound by shaping effects such as distortion, delay, reverb, and modulation. Typically housed in a rugged enclosure and controlled by footswitches, pedals are designed to be placed on the floor for hands-free operation during playing. They can be analogue or digital, true bypass or buffered, and come in countless varieties to suit different styles and preferences. Pedals are essential tools for creating signature tones and adding colour and texture to a guitarist’s sound.
