The Rich “B” is one of BC Rich’s most enduring electric guitar designs, first unveiled at the 1978 NAMM Show. Distinctive for its batwing-like body shape, the Rich “B” is a stylish alternative instrument that’s sure to stand out on stage!

This ‘Perfect 10’ model, from BC Rich’s Legacy Series, pays homage to one of the early and extremely unique 10-string Rich “B” guitars. You can think of this as a 6 and 12-string hybrid of sorts, whereby the two lowest strings are singles like on a conventional guitar, and the highest 4 are doubled like on a 12-string instrument — yielding a unique blend of rich, chorus-like sounds!

BC Rich’s Rich “B” ‘Perfect 10’ also boasts a gorgeous Dragon’s Blood Red finish, Wenge body stringers, mother of pearl “cloud” fingerboard inlays, and Grover tuners. Sizzling-hot DiMarzio D Activator humbuckers give the instrument a huge voice, with the various switches and controls providing a wide tonal palette.

Key Features

  • Neck-Through-Body Construction — Yields piano-like sustain, with heel-less design enabling effortless access to the highest frets.
  • Mahogany Body/Wings — A rich-sounding tonewood that adds deep lows and warm mid-range into the sonic mix.
  • 3-Piece Maple Neck — Layered design ensures maximum strength, for incredible tuning stability. Features a ‘Modern C’ profile for comfortable playability.
  • Ebony Fingerboard — Dark and silky material, featuring a 12″ radius and 24 frets.
  • Jumbo Frets — Big size offers a controllable feel for wide vibrato and pitch-perfect string bends.
  • DiMarzio D Activator Pickups — Passive, high-output humbuckers designed to eliminate the sterile edginess commonly associated with active pickups. Provide plenty of headroom and respond quickly to your picking attack, with ceramic magnets yielding a balanced sound.
  • ‘Varitone’ Control & Mini Switches — Alongside the customary 3-way pickup selector switch and volume/tone knobs, the Rich “B” also features a 5-way ‘Varitone’ filter switch which subtly adjusts the guitar’s EQ. There are 3 mini toggles too: two of these “tap” the humbuckers for single-coil sounds, and the third switch reverses the phase.
  • ‘Quad’ Hardtail Bridge — A high-mass bridge designed to boost tone; featuring easily adjustable saddles for the perfect action and intonation settings.
  • Great For – Rock, Heavy Metal

12-String

12-string guitars use six pairs of strings, with each pair tuned either in unison or an octave apart, creating a fuller and more harmonically rich sound than a standard six-string. This paired-string design produces a natural chorusing effect, giving the instrument a wide, shimmering character.

They are commonly used for rhythm playing, strummed parts, and open chords, where their bright, layered sound adds depth and presence. 12-string guitars are popular in folk, rock, and acoustic music, and are especially valued for creating expansive textures rather than detailed lead playing.
