The Sire V7 Vintage Swamp Ash-5 New Gen in Natural is a 5-string jazz-style bass designed to capture the classic 70s Marcus Miller sound, with modern playability and flexible electronics. A swamp ash body, maple neck and fingerboard, and Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickups feed into the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp, giving you everything from warm, plush vintage tones to punchy, articulate modern sounds at the flick of a switch.
Seven years on from the 2nd Gen, the New Gen V7 Vintage refines Sire’s flagship formula with a more comfortable neck, upgraded controls and a more expressive pickup and preamp pairing. Whether you are chasing tight, percussive slap, smooth R&B lines or detailed fingerstyle, this bass is built to deliver that unmistakable Marcus-inspired character while staying comfortable through the longest sets.

Vintage-Inspired Tone with Modern Flexibility
At the heart of the V7 Vintage New Gen is a pair of Marcus Vintage-J Revolution single-coils, voiced to recreate the classic 70s jazz bass sound. Using Alnico magnets and vintage-correct construction, they produce a warm, rounded low end, a musical midrange and a sweet, singing top. Paired with the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp and its powerful yet musical EQ, you can dial in everything from fat, old-school thump to bright, cutting slap tones, all while retaining clarity and nuance.

New Gen Neck with Edgeless Comfort
The New Gen neck is built for serious players who value comfort and control. A familiar C-shape maple neck and 34-inch scale feel instantly at home, while Sire’s Edgeless rolled fingerboard edges create a remarkably smooth playing surface. Combined with the 7.25-inch radius and black block inlays, you get a neck that feels fast and inviting for both modern and vintage styles, encouraging clean runs and accurate intonation right up the neck.

Switch to active and the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp comes alive, adding powerful Bass, Treble and sweepable Mid controls for sculpting your sound to the room, the band and the track. If the battery runs low mid-gig, simply flip back to passive and keep playing with confidence.
