Description

The new Tone King Royalist MKIII 40-Watt Head with Dual Built-in Iron Man Attenuators expands on the British tone legacy you’ve come to know and love. The Royalist MKIII combo has encompassed the iconic Plexi sound for sweet and crisp tones, all the way to the raging super-lead tones that will shake the walls.

Tone King have focused on authentically replicating the vintage characteristics of classic amplifiers by delivering a crunchy range of rock and roll tones. The built-in Iron Man II attenuator features on both channels which includes tuned and reactive load as well as special compensation circuitry that boosts the power in the tubes for fully driven tone. The all-tube signal path in the Royalist MKIII is made up of three 12AXA7A preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes, as well as one 5AR4 rectifier tube to deliver that authentic ‘sag’ feel and response synonymous with classic British amps.

The independent volume controls with the FAT feature changes the vibe of either channel A or B by delivering more low-end frequencies at the first gain stage of the preamp. The FAT setting is perfect for clean sounds with a beefier low-end that works perfectly with added overdrive for some extra spice to your tone. Oh, and did we mention that this head is the ideal companion for the Royalist MKIII cabinet with the custom “1660” “12 speaker to rock the world with!

Key Features

  • Independent 3-Way Voicing – The 1964, 1967, and 1970 voicing provides a variety of preamp, tone stack and negative feedback selection from the three most iconic eras of vintage British amps,
  • Iron Man II Attenuators – Prevents muffling and muddy sounds when the volumes in turned down low, allowing you to experience the full tonal capabilities of the amplifier’s speaker range and frequency.
  • PULL FAT Feature – Both channels feature the PULL FAT option that changes the sonic vibe of the amp by delivering more low-end in the first gain stage in the preamp, making it ideal for a clean sound with more bottom end that you can add extra flavour when running an overdrive.

Amp Heads

An amp head contains the core tone and power of a guitar amplifier without the built-in speakers, allowing you to pair it with the cabinet of your choice. This setup offers greater flexibility over sound and volume, as different speaker cabinets can dramatically change the feel and character of the amp. Amp heads are available in valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, ranging from low-wattage studio models to high-powered touring rigs. They’re ideal for players who want a modular setup, precise control over their tone, and the ability to adapt their rig to different venues, cabinets, or recording situations.
