Description
Handwound ’59 Strat Pickups
Fender’s most faithful recreations of the pickups which helped put the Stratocaster on the map! Wound in-house by the Fender Custom Shop, these pickups are the perfect complement to any vintage-voiced Strat. Made using Alnico V magnets with a vintage-correct stagger, Formvar wire, along with black fibre bobbins and cloth pull-back wire, these wax-potted pickups produce the desirable bell-like glassy chime of the originals.
Perfect Combinations
Utilising Fender’s classic wood combination of Alder, Maple and Rosewood, this Vintage Custom ’59 Strat does it right! With its 2-piece Alder body, Maple neck and AAA slab Rosewood fingerboard, this Strat offers it in Premium styling. Tonally, it’s well-balanced with a slight push in the upper mids as you’d expect from a Pre-CBS Slabboard Fender.
Fender Custom Shop
The Fender Dream Factory… Fender’s best luthiers, using the best materials and tools all under one roof with the single unified mission of building the best guitars that Fender has ever produced. Founded in 1987, the Custom Shop was established to take Fender’s manufacturing back to its roots with smaller production numbers and higher quality. Famed for pushing Leo’s designs to their absolute limits, the Custom Shop is the benchmark to which all other Fender electric guitars are compared to!
Key Features
- Compound Radius – With its rounder 7.25’’ radius by the nut and flatter 9.5’’ radius from the 12th fret, this ’59 Strat offers maximum comfort up and down the neck.
- Time Capsule – Fender’s Time Capsule portrays a vintage instrument in near-new condition. There is no real ageing, but its NOS Lacquer has lost some of its sheen, and some parts of the metal hardware show slight oxidation.
- ‘59 C – The original Fender C shape neck profile. First entering production in 1959, this medium-thickness neck profile offered players Fender’s fastest-feeling and ergonomic neck profile to date. By today’s standard, the ’59 neck profile is the perfect middle ground between the chunkier profiles of the ‘50s and the Modern C profile we have today.
- Flash Coat – Nitrocellulose Lacquer is painted on in flash coats to ensure the thinnest, most vintage-accurate finishes ever. The thin skin provides even greater resonance as well as a finish that naturally ages beautifully with increased checking.
