Description
It’s no secret that Queens Of The Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen has been one of the most creative and experimental guitarists in rock over the past two decades, adding textures, effortlessly slinky lead lines and catchy riffs to the band, constantly evolving and shifting their sound over several hit records. The Squier Paranormal 12-string Telecaster is the perfect signature fit for his malleable sound. Paranormal 12-string sound and design Being a 12-string electric, the Troy Van Leeuwen Paranormal Tele delivers glassy bright tones galore from the two Fender-designed alnico single-coil pickups. We’re all familiar with the classic, dynamic Tele tone, but adding in the 12-string element massively impacts the sound by creating a bright, twinkly atmosphere when set to cleans and edge of breakup amp tones, and full satisfying crispness with a cranked saturated tone. This is a guitar made for creating new and exciting sounds, for innovative toneshaping and delving into a rich sonic palette, just as Van Leeuwen has done across his different projects. Custom Troy Van Leeuwen looks The custom 12-string headstock and six-saddle string-through-body bridge are stunning touches to dress Troy’s signature guitar in a unique effortlessly cool aesthetic, while also providing excellent tuning stability required of a 12-string. Add in the desert rocking Copper Age finish and you’ve got an instrument that’ll certainly draw eyes on stage and inspire you to make music at home. Classic Fender playing feel expanded to 12 strings At a 9.5-inch radius, the Paranormal Tele’s fretboard feels familiarly comfortable to any modern player, while the nut width is slightly increased over a regular Telecaster to 1.6875 millimetres. That means there’s a touch more space across the fretboard to be precise with your fretting hand and nail the expanded voicings unlocked with a 12-string. You’ll still be able to carry over you chops from a regular six-string, even if you’ve never played a 12-string before.
