Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars are timeless instruments known for their warm, natural sound and versatility across genres like folk, blues, rock, and classical. Played unplugged or with a pickup for amplification, they come in various body shapes such as dreadnought, concert, and parlour, each offering unique tone and comfort. This category includes everything you need for your acoustic journey—from full-sized steel-string and classical guitars to travel-sized models, pickups, preamps, cases, and essential accessories. Whether you’re strumming chords or fingerpicking melodies, our range covers it all for beginners and seasoned players alike.

Mahogany

Mahogany is a classic tonewood known for its warm, full-bodied sound and strong midrange presence. Favoured by many guitar makers, it offers a smooth, balanced tone with rich lows and clear, singing highs. Its dense, durable grain also makes it a popular choice for guitar bodies, necks, and even acoustic backs and sides. Whether you’re after a mellow blues vibe or a thick rock tone, mahogany provides a foundation of warmth and sustain that enhances your playing.

Sunburst

Sunburst is a classic guitar finish featuring a gradient blend of colours that typically fade from a darker edge to a lighter centre, resembling the glow of a setting sun. This timeless style is popular on both electric and acoustic guitars and adds visual depth and character to the instrument. Sunburst finishes come in various variations—such as vintage, cherry, or tobacco sunburst—and have been favoured by many iconic guitar models throughout history.

Vintage

A vintage guitar is a guitar that is considered to be of significant age, typically over 30 years old, and often possesses historical, cultural, or collector’s value. Vintage guitars are highly sought after by collectors, musicians, and enthusiasts for their craftsmanship, tone, playability, and historical significance.

Vintage guitars can come from various eras, each with its own unique characteristics and desirability.

Vintage guitars often exhibit signs of wear and aging, which can add to their character and authenticity. However, originality, condition, and provenance are crucial factors that determine the value of a vintage guitar. Well-maintained and all-original vintage guitars with documented history and provenance tend to command higher prices on the collector’s market.

While vintage guitars can be valuable investments, they are also cherished for their playability and the unique sonic characteristics they offer. Many musicians prefer vintage instruments for their mojo, vibe, and connection to music history.

About Ibanez

We have new and used Ibanez musical equipment available on our website for fast direct delivery from sellers across the UK & Europe.

The Hoshino Gakki company began in 1908 as the musical instrument sales division of the Hoshino Shoten, a bookstore chain. Hoshino Gakki decided in 1935 to make Spanish-style acoustic guitars, at first using the “Ibanez Salvador” brand name in honor of Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, and later simply “Ibanez”.

In the 1970s, the Nisshin Onpa company who owned the Maxon brand name, developed and began selling a series of effect pedals in Japan. Hoshino Gakki licensed these for sale using the name Ibanez outside Japan. These two companies eventually began doing less and less business together until Nisshin Onpa ceased manufacturing the TS-9 reissue for Hoshino Gakki in 2002.
