The L-00 model is one of Gibson’s earliest acoustic designs, originally developed in the 1930s. With its small and comfortable Parlor-esque body still intact, this iconic instrument has been modernised to meet the demands of contemporary players.

Boasting a ‘Slim Taper’ neck profile, the Gibson 2019 L-00 Standard has also been appointed with an LR Baggs VTC pickup, making it perfect for live applications.

Construction

Gibson employs a variety of tonewoods across its acoustic catalogue, but the L-00 Standard stays close to its more traditional combinations. With a Mahogany back, this deep and harmonically-rich material not only delivers a full sound, but it also projects far more volume than you’d expect, especially from an instrument with such a small body.

Adorned with a Sitka Spruce top, this vibrant-sounding tonewood adds some crucial top-end clarity, to give you plenty of definition when playing with a pick or with your fingers. Finished in a gorgeous Vintage Sunburst, you’ll feel inspired every time you pick up and play this stunning guitar.

A Mahogany neck has been paired with the L-00 Standard’s body, which provides a solid and stable impression. Giving notes and chords additional warmth, the neck has also been carved to Gibson’s staple ‘Slim Taper’ profile, which strikes the perfect balance between a modern and traditional feel.

Featuring a Rosewood fingerboard, this tried-and-tested material feels super-smooth under the fingers, enhancing the L-00 Standard’s playability even more.

Hardware & Electronics

Like many of its counterparts in the Montana lineup, the Gibson 2019 L-00 Standard has been fitted with an LR Baggs VTC pickup. Capturing the full acoustic range and voice of the instrument, this high-quality pickup convincingly transfers its unique tonal qualities through a dedicated acoustic amplifier or PA system, making it perfect for live performance and session work.

With an ergonomic and discrete design, the pickup is placed inside the soundhole and just at the edge of the top section, meaning that you’ll hardly notice it’s even there! With its volume and tone controls also installed inside, you can easily refine your sound on-the-fly.

In terms of hardware, Gibson has kept it old-school while ensuring that certain aspects meet today’s standards. The rectangular closed slot bridge conveys lots of vintage charm, however at the other end of the instrument you’ll find a set of Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, which ensure excellent tuning stability.
