Old Blood Noise Endeavors are one of those niche stompbox brands that never settle for the ordinary! Their Sunlight pedal is an incredible tool for experimental guitar players — an envelope triggered multi-mode reverb with the ability to dynamically freeze and sustain your notes forever. Want to create truly mesmerising sunlit soundscapes? This pedal achieves that with ease, and much more!

Building on what made OBNE’s immensely-popular Dark Star pedal such a stellar early-chain pad reverb, Sunlight twists it into the other dimension as a reverb centred around the idea of a dynamic hold. When you play, your new notes are let through and old notes are allowed to fade away, but when you stop playing, old notes have the chance to repeat forever. It's like nothing else!

Key Features

  • 'Input' knob for dynamic sensitivity and 'Decay' control for reverb feedback, to form enveloping infinite reverb.
  • 'Tape', 'Comb', and 'Pass' modes to apply wobbling vibrato, stacked resonant delays, or random step filtering to the reverb!
  • 'Rate' and 'Depth' controls are specific to each mode, for a super-wide sonic palette.
  • Expression pedal control over 'Input', 'Decay', 'Rate', and 'Depth' parameters.
  • Performance-friendly 'Alt' footswitch allows you to quickly snap to a particular knob setting.
  • Soft-touch switching with true relay bypass.
  • Powered by regular 9-volt DC power supply (centre negative, 2.1 mm, ~80 mA current draw).

Simple Operation, 3 Sonic Modes

Old Blood Noise Endeavors' effects might sound complex to the ear, but the company prides itself on making pedals that are dead-simple to use. Their Sunlight is no exception, with just two knobs controlling the nature of the relationship between the new and old notes passing through, fading away and repeating for eternity.

In addition, there are three sonic modes that highlight modulation, comb filtering and resonant bandpass filtering, each of which takes their own spin on the reverb signal. The Mix, Input and Decay dials work exactly the same across each mode, as they help control the dynamics.

Plenty of Control

Mix sets the loudness of the reverb, which goes from all dry to all wet and anywhere in between — allowing you to create everything from subtle reverberations to deep ambient textures.

Now, the interplay between Input and Decay is where the real Sunlight magic starts to happen. Decay determines how long the reverb trails will sustain, which will go from quick ephemeral evaporations to infinite reverb pads. On the other hand, Input controls how much of your signal is allowed into and fed back within the re. Please read more for images, details and to place an order.

Guitar FX

Guitar FX (effects) refer to the wide range of pedals and processors that shape and manipulate a guitar’s signal to create different sounds. From classic distortion and overdrive to reverb, delay, modulation, and pitch-shifting, effects are at the heart of a guitarist’s creative toolkit. Whether analogue or digital, stompbox or multi-effects unit, Guitar FX allow players to express mood, texture, and dynamics in unique ways. Used thoughtfully, they can transform a simple riff into something atmospheric, aggressive, or entirely otherworldly.

pedal

A pedal is a compact device that guitarists use to alter their instrument’s sound by shaping effects such as distortion, delay, reverb, and modulation. Typically housed in a rugged enclosure and controlled by footswitches, pedals are designed to be placed on the floor for hands-free operation during playing. They can be analogue or digital, true bypass or buffered, and come in countless varieties to suit different styles and preferences. Pedals are essential tools for creating signature tones and adding colour and texture to a guitarist’s sound.

Reverb

Reverb, short for reverberation, is an essential guitar effect that simulates the natural reflections of sound in a physical space, such as a room, hall, or cathedral. It adds depth, ambiance, and spaciousness to the guitar’s sound by creating a series of discrete echoes that decay over time, mimicking the way sound reverberates in different environments. Reverb pedals offer controls for adjusting parameters such as decay time (the length of the reverb tail), pre-delay (the time between the original signal and the onset of the reverb), and mix (the balance between the dry and reverberated signals). By adjusting these parameters, guitarists can achieve a wide range of reverb effects, from subtle room ambience to lush, expansive reverberation. Reverb is widely used across various music genres, including rock, jazz, ambient, and electronic music, to add depth, dimension, and realism to guitar tones, creating a sense of space and immersion in the sound. Popular reverb pedal models include the Strymon BigSky, Boss RV-6, and Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail.
