The White Falcon personifies the word ‘Iconic’. A well-known body shape with a reputation to match. This is down to it’s stunning looks, gold hardware against the white body and headstock and its signature sound!

The G6136T-59 is a modern take on what the 59 Falcon would be like, if it were made to todays standards. Its a slightly slimmer hollowbody than the normal White Falcon that may be more comfortable to play in a vintage white colour.

It’s been a Gretsch staple since the 50s and for the simple reason that it can tackle loads of contemporary styles as well as any old-school Blues/Rockabilly or Country.

A Modern Classic

The guitar is a contemporary take on a classic beast as Gretsch have made some new improvements, whilst still retaining its legacy.

The new Gretsch ML bracing allows the guitar to have the stabilty of a solid body so you don’t have to worry about taking the Falcon to a gig. In fact, its encouraged.

Other features to get you through a gig would be the Squeezebox capacitors that allow your your dynamic range to be really high.It makes the pickups much more sensitive at different volume levels.

This combined with the treble bleed circuit (to keep your high end glassy when the volume control is used) and the TV Jones Classics make this an incredibly versatile guitar.

Tv Jones Classic

The TV jones classics are humbuckers with open coils that push out a similar sound to single coils. They are bright and open sounding and create a very responsive mid-range and high-end.

When used on a clean setting, they have a glassy mid and high end but still retain a punchy low end.

Under gain they sound crunchy and crispy and have that twang and growl associated with Gretsch guitars from the 50s & 60s.

Bigsby Tremolo

The Bigsby is one of the smoothest tremolo systems ever made and has been used by countless artists to create subtle movement in chords and sweet bends. Nothing quite feels like Bigsby tremolo due to the single large spring that creates the movement evenly across all of the strings. If you have loved the sounds of pop and rock throughout the 50’s and 60’s chances are you have heard plenty of Bigsby playing.

Here’s What Gretsch Say

A sophisticated rendition of the original masterpiece, the G6136T-59 Vintage Select Edition ’59 Falcon Hollow Body with Bigsby combines period-accurate features and appointments from the golden age of electric guitars. Satisfying eyes and ears with its golden tones and gleaming looks, this rare bird comes alive in the player’s hands, singing with its distinctive voice at every strum.

A pair of TV Jones Classic pickups generates powerful tone and unparalleled dynamics. The new Gretsch “Squeezebox” paper-in-oil capacitors provide an incredibly silky high end. Add some expressive shimm. Please read more for images, details and to place an order.

Vintage

A vintage guitar is a guitar that is considered to be of significant age, typically over 30 years old, and often possesses historical, cultural, or collector’s value. Vintage guitars are highly sought after by collectors, musicians, and enthusiasts for their craftsmanship, tone, playability, and historical significance.

Vintage guitars can come from various eras, each with its own unique characteristics and desirability.

Vintage guitars often exhibit signs of wear and aging, which can add to their character and authenticity. However, originality, condition, and provenance are crucial factors that determine the value of a vintage guitar. Well-maintained and all-original vintage guitars with documented history and provenance tend to command higher prices on the collector’s market.

While vintage guitars can be valuable investments, they are also cherished for their playability and the unique sonic characteristics they offer. Many musicians prefer vintage instruments for their mojo, vibe, and connection to music history.

Gretsch is an iconic American musical instrument company renowned for its production of high-quality guitars, particularly in the realm of hollow-body and semi-hollow electric guitars. Founded in 1883 by Friedrich Gretsch in Brooklyn, New York, the company initially focused on manufacturing drums and banjos before expanding into guitars. However, it was under the leadership of Fred Gretsch Jr. in the 1950s that Gretsch guitars gained widespread recognition and popularity, particularly with the introduction of the iconic “Country Gentleman” and “White Falcon” models, which became synonymous with the rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll movements of the era.

Gretsch guitars are celebrated for their distinctive aesthetic and rich, resonant tones, making them a favorite among musicians across various genres, including rock, jazz, country, and blues. The company’s commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in each instrument, with features such as Bigsby vibrato tailpieces, Filter’Tron pickups, and signature “F-holes” adorning many of their guitars. Today, Gretsch continues to produce a wide range of electric and acoustic guitars, staying true to its heritage while also embracing innovation to meet the evolving needs of musicians worldwide.
